Getting started
How do I create a memory?
Tap the + button, pick a photo, add a title and choose a date. Save it, and it becomes your wallpaper automatically on that date.
What’s the difference between yearly and one-time memories?
A yearly memory comes back every year on the same date — great for birthdays and anniversaries. A one-time memory shows only in the year you set.
When does my memory appear?
At midnight on its day, and your default wallpaper returns when the day ends. If you create a memory for today, it goes on your wallpaper straight away.
Can I have more than one memory on the same day?
Yes — up to 3. Each gets a time slot: Morning (12 AM–12 PM), Afternoon (12–6 PM) or Evening (6 PM onward).
How do I add the widget?
Long-press an empty spot on your home screen → Widgets → Mempaper, and place it. It shows your next memory with a countdown. Stretch it taller to see the photo.
What are default wallpapers?
The wallpapers shown on days without a memory. Set them on the Home screen under “Default Wallpapers”.
Wallpaper didn’t change on time
Why was my wallpaper late?
Android must let Mempaper run at an exact time and in the background. If those permissions are off, the change can be delayed or skipped while the app is asleep.
How do I make it reliable?
In Mempaper’s Settings, make sure Exact Alarms and Battery both show green. Tap “Fix” next to either one for step-by-step help. Set the app’s battery usage to “Unrestricted” (on some phones: “Don’t optimise” or “Allow background activity”).
It’s still late on my OnePlus / Oppo / Xiaomi / Samsung.
These phones stop background apps aggressively. Also turn on “Auto-launch” / “Auto-start” for Mempaper, turn off any “sleeping apps” setting for it, and lock the app in your Recent apps.
Pro & billing
What do I get with Pro?
Unlimited memories, text and stickers, filters, frames and adjustments, event templates, and encrypted cloud backup.
Is there a free trial?
When available, eligible new subscribers can try the annual plan free for 7 days — you’ll see it on the upgrade screen. Cancel in Google Play before it ends and you won’t be charged.
I paid but don’t see Pro.
Open the upgrade screen and tap “Restore purchases”, or close and reopen the app. Purchases are tied to the Google account you bought them with.
How do I cancel?
In the app: Settings → Subscription Plan → Manage in Google Play. Or in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Pro continues until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Backup & your data
How does backup work?
With Pro, memories are encrypted on your phone and saved to your own Google Drive — automatically over Wi-Fi, or when you tap “Back up now”. Only new or changed photos are uploaded.
How do I restore on a new phone?
Sign in with the same Google account. Mempaper offers to restore your memories, or open Memories Backup and tap “Restore from cloud”.
Can I export my memories?
Yes — Memories Backup → Download memories. Choose viewable photos, or an encrypted backup you can import back into Mempaper. Files are saved to Downloads/Mempaper.
How do I delete my data?
Everything on your phone: Settings → Erase data on this phone. Your cloud backup: Memories Backup → Delete cloud backup. Your account: see Delete your account.
