Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Mempaper is published by CONGURU SOLUTIONS LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16347062), registered office: 24 Paris Court, Stoke-on-Trent, England, ST1 3GJ (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal information described here. This policy explains what the app uses, why, where it is kept, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). Contact: mempaperapp@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information — if you sign in with Google: your name, email address, profile picture link and a unique account ID, handled by Google Firebase Authentication. If you continue as a guest, no account information is collected.
- Your memories — the photos you choose and the titles, notes, dates and edits you add. You pick photos with Android’s photo picker, so Mempaper only sees the photos you select, never the rest of your library. Memories stay on your phone (and, with Pro backup, encrypted in your own Google Drive); they are not sent to us.
- Purchase information — payments are handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your card details. To verify and manage Pro, our server keeps your account ID, the plan or product you bought, its status and the Google Play purchase token.
- App integrity signals — Google Play Integrity (through Firebase App Check) tells our server whether requests come from the genuine app on a genuine device.
- Messages you send us — if you use “Suggest your Ideas” or email us, we receive your message and email address. The feedback email is pre-filled with the app version and your device model and Android version to help us fix problems; you can remove them before sending.
3. What we don’t collect
Mempaper has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. It does not access your location, contacts, camera or microphone, and we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Mempaper finds faces in a photo on your phone only, to keep people in frame when a photo is cropped. It does not identify anyone, build face profiles, or store or send any face data.
4. How we use your information and our lawful basis
- Running the app and your account — signing you in, keeping Pro active on your devices, backing up and restoring your memories. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Verifying purchases and preventing fraud — checking purchases with Google Play and using App Check to block abuse of our services. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in keeping Mempaper secure and paid features protected, and performance of our contract with you.
- Keeping purchase records — for accounting and tax. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- Replying to you — answering feedback and support emails. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in helping you and improving the app.
Wallpaper scheduling, reminders and the widget run entirely on your phone and do not involve us.
5. Where your data is kept
- On your phone — your memories, photos and settings.
- Your own Google Drive (Pro backup) — backups are encrypted on your phone with a key tied to your account and saved to your Drive using Google’s limited “drive.file” access, which lets Mempaper see only the files it created. We have no access to your Google Drive, so we never receive or see your backups.
- Our servers (Google Firebase) — only your account record and purchase records.
6. Who processes your data for us
We use Google to provide parts of the service: Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions (purchase records and verification), Firebase App Check with Play Integrity (abuse protection), Google Play Billing (payments), Google Drive (your backups) and Google Play In-App Review (optional ratings). Google processes this data under its data processing terms. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. We do not share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
7. International transfers
Google may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where it does, the transfer is protected by the UK’s adequacy regulations for the US (the “UK–US data bridge”) and/or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the Standard Contractual Clauses in Google’s data processing terms.
8. How long we keep it
- Account record — until you ask us to delete your account.
- Purchase records — for 6 years after the purchase, as UK tax law requires, even if you delete your account.
- Support emails — for as long as needed to help you, and no longer than 2 years.
- Memories, photos and backups — kept by you, on your phone and in your Google Drive, until you delete them.
9. Notifications, widget and sharing
Notifications are created on your phone: a reminder the evening before a memory, a note when a memory is set as your wallpaper, and, only if you turn it on, a gentle daily nudge asking whether anything from today is worth saving. You can turn them off in the app or in Android settings.
If you add the Mempaper home-screen widget, it shows a memory’s photo and title on your home screen, visible to anyone who can see your screen. The slideshow widget shows only a play button and opens your slideshow when you tap it.
Slideshows, videos and PDF keepsake books are made on your phone from your own memories. A video or PDF is saved to your phone when you tap Save, or sent only to the app you choose when you tap Share.
When you tap Share, the image and a short line about Mempaper are sent only to the app you choose.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it (including where we rely on legitimate interests); and receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email mempaperapp@gmail.com. We will respond within one month, and there is normally no charge.
11. Deleting your data
- Delete any memory at any time, or use Settings → Erase data on this phone to remove all memories, photos and settings from your phone. Uninstalling the app also removes them.
- Delete your cloud backup from Memories Backup → Delete cloud backup.
- To delete your account and our records, use Settings → Delete account in the app — it deletes your account straight away. If you can’t use the app, email mempaperapp@gmail.com with the subject “Delete Account” (see how to delete your account) and we’ll do it within 7 business days. Purchase records we must keep for tax are kept as section 8 explains.
12. Security
Data sent between the app and our services is encrypted in transit, backups are encrypted before they leave your phone, and access to our server data is restricted. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
13. Children
Mempaper is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where the law of your country sets a higher age for consent) and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them.
15. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date; significant changes will also be highlighted in the app.
